470 mm modulethe basis: The 470 61.88 mm area forms the basis for the geometry of the PIKO A-Track system. These dimensions were chosen deliberately. They are the result of precise studies calculated using high-performance CAD systems to meet the requirements of both toy and model railway enthusiasts. Within this grid, almost all track formations can be created easily, without using small adjustment pieces: elegant turnouts in straight sections or curves, various parallel-track spacings, and the option to install existing accessories such as platforms. The simple grid makes complicated track templates unnecessary. Track formations can be drawn using ordinary graph paper, allowing the required track elements to be determined. Track geometry: The special feature of the PIKO A-Track geometry is that it uses very few track elements. Model railway enthusiasts do not need to install adjustment pieces at turnouts or crossings, which can otherwise cause uneven running. The 470 mm module length is divided on straight sections into two tracks of different lengths: 231 mm and 239 mm. This is the key to running on parallel tracks through two turnouts without adjustment pieces. The tracks: The PIKO A-Track profile is made of a high-quality nickel-silver alloy and is a solid-profile track with excellent current-conducting properties, even over long sections. The spring-steel rail joiners provide a durable, secure connection and ensure good current transfer at the rail joints. The sleepers are made of high-quality ABS plastic, which is particularly characterized by high impact resistance, good sound-damping properties, and resistance to stress cracking.
