DIN 7984 socket head screws have a cylindrical head that is slightly lower than the head of DIN 912 socket head screws. The drive is an internal hex, so the screw can be installed with a standard hex key. The screw head can be installed flush with the surface of the component. To do this, the hole must first be counterbored using a piloted counterbore. A nut can be used for fastening, or the screw can be driven into a tapped metal thread. DIN 7984 socket head screws are available in different lengths. These metric screws are made of electroplated zinc-coated steel. The zinc-plated surface protects the screws against corrosion. The cross-section of the socket head screws remains constant along their entire length. The selected length is the screw length excluding the head thickness.
